It is with great pleasure that I extend my warm greetings to all students, colleagues, and visitors of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Kelaniya. Philosophy, as the pursuit of wisdom, invites us to question, to reflect, and to seek clarity about the fundamental issues of human existence. Our department has long been committed to nurturing this spirit of inquiry, encouraging both rigorous academic study and thoughtful engagement with the world around us.
The Department of Philosophy at UoK offers a vibrant intellectual community where diverse traditions of thought of Eastern and Western, classical and contemporary, are studied and debated. We take pride in fostering critical thinking, ethical reflection, and interdisciplinary dialogue, equipping our students not only with academic knowledge but also with the intellectual tools to navigate complex social and cultural realities.
As Head of the Department, I am deeply committed to supporting our faculty and students in their scholarly pursuits, research initiatives, and contributions to society. We strive to maintain an environment that values openness, respect, and creativity, ensuring that philosophy remains a living discipline that speaks to the challenges of our time.
I warmly invite you to engage with our department, whether as a student, researcher, or collaborator and to share in the journey of philosophical exploration. Together, let us continue to uphold the University of Kelaniya’s tradition of excellence and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of knowledge and wisdom.
